It looks like the Sun is fully working with us, it is essential for my small pistol station. Good bands openings, I broke 4 Million points, so… great weekend!
I took care about preparations. 5-circle RX antennas has been installed, sufficient sleeping, didn’t problem to be in the air for cca 44 hours. I checked some last year logs plus VOACAP to have imagine about bands and directions openings. Nevertheless it was hard to stop good pileup due go to other band.
Not as good AS/JA openings, but good mults from there. The best was NA direction, on all bands, especially on 10m, 15m and 40m. All 3 hours of top rates around 150 Q/h were NA pileups on 40m, the top peak was 324 Q/h, what a QSO flow!
Sometimes bell echo, hard to copy. On the other hand, there were periods of clear, strong signals on quiet band, good for easy R2 S&P. Also dual CQ was possible during deaf minutes, but I needed to switch to one radio after raising of pileup on one band.
Interesting trend: The further the less SOABHP Unassisted guys at LiveScore… but, it’s not mandatory, so it too belongs to contest strategy.
I observed few strange huge QRM, few kHz wide. Not local, when one of them finished, the band on waterfall was completely clear, empty… Looks like our bands are starting to be easy target for various professional (?) services.
The conclusion: Big top of the contest year. A few of my CQ WW CW personal the tops: score, QSO number, rates. Just only a bit less mults due to pileups passions, hi. Score over 4 Million (RAW, of course) for the first time.
