This year it was about new hamshack setup, Mr. Murphy and bad conditions.
I have started to rebuild my HAMshack to SO2R, so this was the first contest with a few new microHAM and OM Power toys. Mr. Murphy knew, that it’s his cup of coffee, fortunately, I was able still be back in the air in few minutes:
– rotator position sensor is dead (not necessary on 160),
– StationMaster 1 died in the first hour (I had second one),
– StationMaster 2 died on Saturday morning (coaxes reconnecting solved it),
– keyboard dead on Saturdy evening (I have 2 spare ones)…
So… next project is solving of RF interferences.
I don’t have inband HW, so I run with „semi SO2V“ to have some experiences with stereo receiving: VFO A (run) to the left and VFO B (S&P) to the right ears, and 2 keyboards. Sometimes of big confusion, hi. Sorry to those, who was attacked by my signal in the case of unwanted switching of TX to improper VFO… I received almost full time on K9AY antenna, so splatters and extremely wide signals was so-so acceptable.
Conditions: I will copy all others – bad Saturday morning (no NA, few AS and AF), bit better second night and struggle for every QSO on Sunday evening.
See you in next contests!
