My the first contest of SO2R setup.
The days before the contest I spent on completing of HW for SO2R operating. The first problem was to prevent of damaging of HW by interferences especially from tower loaded as 160m vertical. I had to detect all interferences ways and made temporary solution. Then I had to built at least few antennas for second radio – InvVees for 40m and 20m. Building, loading, connecting and matching were a bit more complicated, than I expected. So I had to did it also during Saturday.
I saw, that things are not so problemless as it looks in SO2R theory. Two types of interferences were causing problems:
– from inside HamShack installations,
– from harmonics interferences – much more critical in the case of High Power category. I will have to built additional filtering systems.
Conditions – I was mostly on low bands on Saturday and it wasn’t bad at all. Only few hours on 20m, but too late and band closed early. Sunday – high bands quite fine. I made nice portion of mults also on 15m. I was able to monitor band openings thanks to 2nd radio.
So now I have more information, what is SO2R about, and what is necessary to built.
I enjoyed of rare, but well organised NA pileups – TNX guys and see you in SSB leg!
